Social Networking is a valuable tool but it needs to be used carefully, especially by teens. I'm a Communication student and this educational video I created about social networking for teens and how to design a safe profile might help you along, good luck!

Myspace is almost like IMVU their both bad.Meez is better place all i know is.Myspace have rhapest or other, with naghty webcam and cyber with to get naked with sex toys.So yes it is bad,and i recken it's not safe for you teen NOT CHILDREN.Also someone could take your account and put naked pics on there. Those scarry storys aren't real also,if someone get's your name they could steal information and put it on a site.Everyone agree ''Yes,it is bad.''I think you sould't go on there.

1. if your teen/child gets in chat with a rhapest they might tell information. And befor you know it there'ill be gone.

2.catching information could delete your account or somebody could try to do stuff to you.

3.think about what your doing befor going on myspace.

Lilbri,

MySpace's privacy policy is not quite as permissive as you suggest. You can read it yourself here.

MY Space is not safe! i will give you 2 reasons that will shock you

Myspace Contract

1) . The contract states that MySpace collects your information like name, email address, age, and personal interests. And has the license to use and publicize your information in any way it chooses.

That is how this free website makes its money. It sells your information to other sites. Often times, it’s pornographic and suspicious websites that you wouldn’t normally visit. It also makes it very easy for a sexual predator or a computer hacker to find your information on Myspace.

And the contract actually states that it can use your information.....

2) Tom Anderson (the co-founder and president) ran a pornagraphy site before his MySpace days..... He photographed the models himself and was almost sued for sexual harrassment !!!!

MySpace is not a safe site... you really have to be careful what you put in your profile... you never know who is looking at it or using it.

personally i dont think myspace is safe at all. there is a setting that says who is allowed to visit the profile, if you become friends with someone ( maybe: stalker ) then they could see all your personal information while you are thinking its safe. but most ppl on myspace make their profile "allowed to see by everyone" which is pretty dangerous

MYSPACE IS NOT SAFE UNLESS YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE IT SAFE!

almost everyone in my school has a myspace, i felt left out so i made one. but i didnt put any personal information on my profile, i never do. the problem with myspace is that its boring. all you do is look at other ppls profiles all day, but thats what makes it dangerous for kids that put way tooooooo much personal info on there.

Yes myspace is completely safe with the privacy settings and the stalker trackers alos there is many people that put their personal information and thats how many kids run into problems.

It would be great to hear from some computer security experts on this forum, but my understanding is that if you're being careful about not giving info out and logging into MySpace only once (one scam would send an extra "log-in page" that would steal people's addresses and passwords if they fell for it), your info will be as safe as it can be.

The variable is that spammers have a way of going into big sites and "harvesting" huge batches of emails. I don't know how they do it, but there isn't much users can do about it. I'm sure MySpace, like other Internet services, is always working on security issues like this because they hurt business. You could also ask fellow MySpace users about this in MySpace's own forum about MySpace. Good luck,

Well, my concerns are how can someone steal your email address if you are careful and dont give it and your password to others? - thanks for your response.

Safe in what way, Rainbowgirl? If you're talking about computer security, MySpace and other social-networking sites are dealing with malicious hackers, spammers, and scammers that go wherever big traffic is and post fake log-ins to steal passwords and harvest email addresses. Here's a post about a new problem with malicious widgets on my NetFamilyNews blog. Let me know if that's not what you're talking about, but almost everything, including social-networking sites, is safe when used responsibly.
